When and where is Royal Ascot?
The year Royal Ascot takes place from 16th - 20th June 2020 at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Thursday is ladies day and also the Gold cup. Britain`s most important event for stayers (horses that run over long distances).
Royal Ascot Dress Code?
Depending on what enclosure you`re enjoying the day`s events in, will determine the dress code. But on the whole , Royal Ascot is associated with dressing up.
Windsor Enclosure
There is no official dress code here, but people are asked to wear "smart daywear" with women encouraged to wear a fascinator or hat. and men to wear a jacket , collared shirt and full length trousers.
Village Enclosure
In the village enclosure , its compulsory for women to wear a hat, headpiece or fascinator and smart dress. Strapless dresses are not permitted, along with off the shoulder , Bardot and one shoulder numbers. If your wearing a trouser suit , they must be full length , and jumpsuits below the knee. Men are required to wear a jacket , full length trousers , collared shirt and tie (which must be worn at all times) socks must also be worn.
Queen Anne Enclosure
Women must wear a headpiece or fascinator. Trouser suits must be full length and jump suits must fall below the knee. Men are required to wear a full suit with a collared shirt and tie and the jacket and trousers should be of matching colour and pattern. A tie should be worn at all times.
Royal Enclosure
Dresses and skirts are required to be a "modest length" according to Ascot`s rules. This means they should fall just above the knee or longer and should have straps of one inch or greater. Strapless , off the shoulder, halter neck and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Hats are also a requirement, however you can wear a headpiece or fascinator if it has a solid base of 4 inches or more in diameter is acceptable. Men must wear either black or grey morning dress which must include a waistcoat and tie, a black or grey top hat and black shoes with socks. And as a general rule no jeans are permitted.
